An alluring European wedding or dowry armoire hand painted black with a detailed design within the diamond shaped panel and dated 1858. This armoire features original paint, hardware, crown molding, and pegs in the interior for hanging garments or textiles.
Dowry furniture traditionally was used to hold the bride's handwoven textiles including their wedding gown and shawl in hopes if marriage. These pieces were also called "hope chests".
